Taiwan scholarship program 2018

1. Program Duration:

04 years for undergraduate programs

02 years for master’s degree programs

04    years for doctorate programs

2. Applicant Eligibility:

·         Must be either a Vietnamese (South of Da Nang) or a Cambodian national with a secondary school graduation diploma or post-secondary degree(s), with an excellent academic record, and be of good moral character.

·         Must not be a person who has already studied in Taiwan for a degree at the same level as the one in which they currently intend to enroll or plans to be part time students in Taiwan

·         Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3 or above and postgraduate GPA of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.

3. Scholarship Value: 02 scholarships

·         Tuition and miscellaneous expenses: NTD 40,000 excluding administration fees, thesis supervision fees, insurance premiums, accommodation, or internet access.

·         Living allowance: monthly stipend provided by the MOE.

ü  Undergraduate: NTD 15,000/month.

ü  Postgraduate: NTD 20,000/month.

4. Application Requirements:

·         A fully filled 2018 Taiwan Scholarship Application Form (Attached file).

·         Vietnamese students: A photocopy of the applicant’s valid ID card or passport, and household registration (must be South of Da Nang or the place of work is south of Da Nang).

·         Cambodian students: A photocopy of the applicant’s valid passport.

Note: All the documents mentioned above have to remain valid at least after February 1, 2020 (valid for a total of 1.5yrs.).

·         A verified/authenticated photocopy of their highest academic award and of the associated academic transcripts/diploma.

Note: Documents in a language other than Chinese or English must be translated into Chinese or English and the translated documents must also be verified/authenticated in accordance to the requirements of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City.

·         Photocopies of documentary evidence that the applicant has already applied to a university/college in Taiwan.

  • One of the following language proficiency certificates:

ü  Program not completely taught in English: Submit a copy of results or certificate for the “Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language” Level 3 or above.

Note: HSK Score will not be accepted. Once becoming the recipient of the Scholarship, original Copy of the certificate will be needed to be brought to the Education Division for verification.

ü  Program completely taught in English: Submit report of one of the following recognized English language proficiency test scores (or above English test scores)

o   TOEFL: pBT500

o   IBT 60

o   IELTS 5.5

o   TOEIC 600

Note:  Original Copy of the certificate will be needed to be brought to the Education Division for verification.

·         Two reference letters – from a principal, a college or university president/rector, professors, and/or supervisors – personally signed, and placed in sealed envelopes. Photo copies and email submissions of letters of recommendation will not be considered.

·         A confirmation letter (For all English Program students) written by the university (not written by college or department) indicating that the department applied is “an all English Program approved by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan”. The letter must be turned in by May 31, 2018.

·         Study plan (Chinese or English).

5. Application Deadline: Submit application package to the office of International Student Service Center (Room A2.604) before February 28, 2018.

6. Other information:

·         Interviews will be given to all candidates in between April and May, and must be conducted in person.

·         If the applicant has not yet graduated upon application, he/she must hand in verified/authenticated graduate diploma and original diploma before 16th July, 2018.
