The Department of Physics is an academic unit of the International University dedicated to research and teaching all Physics courses at the university.

In order to support students in their study, the courses provide basic knowledge of Physics such as mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, optics, nuclear physics, quantum mechanics, special Relativity,…The students are also trained in our modern laboratories to improve their practical skills and help them understand basic concepts of the physics courses.

The department’s scientific research includes two major fields: Galactic Astronomy and Plasma Physics. Our research results have been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as The Astrophysical Journal, Astronomy and Astrophysics, The Astrophysical Journal Letters, MNRAS Letters, and Physical Review E.

Research Fields:
Galactic Astronomy:

  • Low-mass stars, brown dwarf formation
  • Photometry, astrometry and spectroscopy of low-mass stars and brown dwarfs
  • Low-mass, brown dwarf binaries
  • Magnetic activity in ultra-cool dwarfs
  • Magnetic field measurement in low-mass stars
  • Protoplanetary disks around ultra-cool dwarfs

Plasma Physics:

  • Fusion nuclear reaction in high density stellar structure
  • Atomic physics in dense plasmas
  • Coulomb fluid: Thermodynamics and phase change properties
